Howdy Freelancers! With the Anthem VIP demo starting this Friday, I thought it was high time I asked the question that’s going to be on everyone’s minds, can you stream the Anthem VIP demo?

So can you stream the Anthem VIP demo?

The short answer is that yes, you can stream the Anthem VIP demo. This demo won’t have an NDA assigned to it, so you’ll be able stream it to your YouTube or Twitch channel, or whatever other livestreaming service you like to use.

Michael Gamble has been asked this question over and over on Twitter, and he’s been such a good sport to answer it for each and every single person. He’s actually great at answering questions, so head over and ask him anything if there’s something specific you need to know, and sooner rather than later if it’s about streaming.

There’s actually a bit of history to this question because of the previous demo for Anthem. The closed alpha, which happened in late 2018, was open to a select few players and EA Access members.

Those who chose to upload videos to YouTube and discuss details of the alpha were actually in breach of an NDA that players automatically signed before loading up the demo. The YouTube channels were taken down, but I don’t know anything specific about what happened to the individuals.

With the Anthem VIP demo there’s not going to be an NDA like there was for the Alpha. In fact I think Bioware are hoping for players to be sharing their time with the demo as much as possible. Those of us with access to the VIP demo are in a privileged position in that we get to play the game for three days a whole week before everyone else playing the public demo.

No NDA doesn’t mean we’re going to be able to stream and make videos of the final game of Anthem this week though. The build that we’re playing this week and next week is fairly old, in fact I’m pretty sure the developers can’t remember when that branch of the code was sectioned off.

It’s important to remember that this demo isn’t going to be the final version of the game. It’s going to have a lot of bugs and some big differences between it and the final game. There’s a good chance that any secrets that are easy to find will be patched or made harder in the final game. Therefore I think it’s a bit silly and pointless to make videos about them, or stream yourself secret hunting.

Anyway, the bottom line is that there’s no NDA so stream away. Let me know if you’re going to be streaming or making videos in the comments.
